Talk & Walkthrough: Brooks Brothers Family

  • Museum of the City of New York 1220 Fifth Avenue (at 103rd Street) New York, NY 10029 (map)

NYFRA is a co-sponsor of the "Talk & Walkthrough: Brooks Brothers Family" event at the Museum of the City of New York

Join Bruce Weber, Curator of Paintings and Sculpture, for a series of gallery tours to explore and discover some of New York City’s prominent figures in the exhibition Picturing Prestige: New York Portraits, 1700 – 1860.

This tour will focus on the exhibition’s portraits of the children and grandchildren of Henry Sands Brooks, who launched the Brooks Brothers clothing brand in Manhattan in 1818. Known for introducing the ready-to-wear suit to American customers, Brooks Brothers has outfitted 39 American Presidents, including Abraham Lincoln (who was assassinated wearing a Brooks Brothers coat).
